Copenhagen in the rain and sun
Day 6 - Copenhagen. We awoke this morning to a rainy, windy, cold day- not exactly what you want to see with a day of touring. Still, we were excited to visit Copenhagen for the first time. I had room service delivered to the room so we could quickly get some breakfast before heading out.
We disembarked the ship at 8:15 and waited in the rain to meet our guide. Fortunately it was a short wait and we were off in our bus. We booked our ship tours privately with a company called Alla Tours rather than booking through the ship. Our group was only 14 people and we had a smaller bus so we could get around a bit faster and easier. Our first stop was the Little Mermaid statue, which is the most visited place in Copenhagen.

We then drove around the city to see sights like Frederiksstaden, NyHavn, and Tivoli Gardens. By the time our drive ended, so had the rain. We then had a guided tour of Rosenborg Castle and the Danish Crown Jewels. Entering the treasury was interesting, as it was under the castle and you had to enter a vault. Additionally, the jewels were kept in sound sensitive cases. They warned us that if we sneezed too close to the cases, we would put the castle in lock down. I'm pretty sure Austin was tempted to try it.

After the castle, we wandered the city with our guide for a bit and then were given a little over an hour on our own. Austin and I wandered down to NyHavn to take a few photos and then found a couple of classic Danish danishes at 7-11 of all places.

We then headed back to the ship for an afternoon nap and a dinner of delicious curry. We did go to the theater tonight to see the show Now and Again, which was a collections of songs and performances from classic musicals. It was good, but if you aren't familiar with the songs, it could be a bit dull. Tomorrow is another sea day as we head towards Estonia. We will need to get rested up for 5 long days of touring ahead.
