Haugesund and Langford Waterfall

Today was our first port day on Island Princess. We started with and early breakfast in the Main Dining Room. I often hear from cruisers that they only like to eat breakfast in the buffet to save time. I love the MDR. It is a great start to the day with excellent food and service. We don't always have time for it, but when we do, we always prefer it over the buffet. We book a tour through Viator with a company called Fiordos Noruega to Akrafjorden, Langfoss waterfall, and Haraldhaug. It was almost a 2 hour drive to the fjord, but it was beautiful. Once at the falls, it was clear why CNN named it in the top 10 waterfalls in the world. Once there, we boarded a boat and cruised up to the falls. The captain even got us a bucket of water from the falls to taste what he called the purest water in Norway.
Next we headed to Haraldhaug, which is a monument to King Harald the Fairhair who united Norway under one kingdom. Based on the history they have put together, this was the spot where Harald completed the unification and later was buried. There is also a stone cross which Harald's son erected. Pretty cool that it is standing 1000 years later.
We got back to the ship around 3:30 and are getting ready for our 5pm sail away. Room service promptly brought us a delicious snack and we have dinner this evening at the Italian specialty restaurant, Sabatini's. I can't wait to try it! Tomorrow, we will be in Olden and are hopeful the rain will hold off for us.
